I’m passionate about assisting leaders to become more effective and empathetic in tandem. Clients and I work together to discover how to advance their interests while fostering strong professional relationships.

At the heart of my coaching practice is drilling down beneath problems to uncover unrealized potential. This process can take a number of forms and might involve, for instance, tapping into greater confidence, leadership presence, or emotional sensitivity. Depending on a client’s needs, I’ll draw on different frameworks and tools. I often share best practices in management and communication that I’ve developed based on 170 hours of interviews with industry experts and 50 professional development courses.

Some common coaching topics include the following:

  • active listening

  • adapting to others’ communication styles

  • business writing

  • communicating when put on
    the spot

  • getting buy-in

  • coaching direct reports

  • conflict management

  • crafting a mission and vision

  • decision making

  • delegation

  • diplomacy and tactfulness

  • building empathy

  • empowering your team

  • executive presence

  • feedback

  • influence and persuasion

  • managing up

  • presentation skills

  • running meetings

  • structured, succinct messaging

  • motivating others

  • mindfulness

  • relationship building

  • saying no gracefully

  • storytelling / strategic narratives

  • strategic thinking

  • time management

  • using intuition

As a coach, I often ask myself, what challenges should clients anticipate?  How can they build on their current skills and take their leadership to the next level?  Clients and I brainstorm development areas and tackle them in order of priority, as well as any problems on the “front burner.”

I’ve coached clients in a wide range of functions. I’ve also coached clients with different personality, communication, work, and information processing styles: introverted/extraverted, direct/indirect, structured/unstructured, relationship-focused/task-focused, analytical/feeler, etc. I often work with clients to help them adjust their communication styles to match those of colleagues—up, down, and across. I try to do the same as a coach with clients. I find every client is unique and work hard to tailor my approach accordingly.
