“We cannot solve our problems with the
same level of thinking that created them.”
-ALBERT EINSTEIN
Hone tangible and intangible skills
Think of leadership as a combination of tangible skills—such as communication techniques, problem solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making practices—and intangible qualities—like confidence, poise under pressure, empathy, etc. Insight-Driven Consulting® helps clients strengthen the tangibles and intangibles of leadership.
Drive to results
The endgame is about achieving results. How we get there varies. Sometimes there’s a quick solution to a problem, such as a relevant best practice. Other times we brainstorm together about a challenge, often refining the best idea until it’s ready to be put into action. Still other times we dig deeper to uncover untapped potential and explore how to use it.
Harness underused strengths
Finding untapped potential leads to deeper transformation and provides the most long-term impact for clients. To this end, I help leaders identify strengths—capabilities, skills, and personal qualities—that are underused or not readily apparent. I work with clients to enhance and apply these strengths. My objective is for clients to better leverage their inner resources and discover new approaches to achieve their goals.
About John
I have experience in both creative and analytical fields. I earned a Master’s in English literature and then worked for several years on the set of independent films as a script supervisor. After getting an MBA in finance at Wharton, I worked a strategy consultant. Filmmaking and, more obviously, consulting are all about working as a team to solve problems. Now as an executive coach, I use both right and left brain thinking to help clients resolve important issues.
Working with Me
The coaching I provide clients generally falls into three broad categories:
collaborating on action steps to address challenging problems (on a wide range of topics)
building inner strengths, such as confidence, executive presence, empathy, etc., and
honing management and communication skills.
Sports teams reflect the personal qualities of their leader, be it a coach, captain, or star player. The same holds true with teams in business. How is your team impacted by the way you push for results, handle challenges and stress, relate to others, etc.? Coaching sessions can focus on growing as a problem solver, mentor, and motivator to help get the best out of your team.
